In a collaboration with its Official Composer Dana Al Fardan, Qatar Airways has introduced a new onboard theme song titled ‘The Ascent.’ Designed to mark a new chapter for the airline in the post-World Cup era, the song is now accessible via Qatar Airways’ award-winning Oryx One Inflight Entertainment system.
The musical piece, masterfully executed by members of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, is designed to offer travelers a sense of tranquility and luxury, thereby enhancing the in-flight experience.
Since her initial partnership with the airline in 2016, Dana Al Fardan’s compositions have become an iconic part of Qatar Airways’ brand identity, symbolizing both luxury and cultural sophistication in travel.
‘The Ascent’ concludes a trilogy of theme songs by Al Fardan, following ‘The Awakening’ and ‘The Dawn.’ The composition features a mix of both classical and Arabic musical instruments, including the piano, violin, viola, cello, Ney, and Rababa, resulting in a captivating blend of cultural richness.
His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways Group, expressed his delight in the collaboration: “Dana’s compositions not only elevate the in-flight experience but also serve as a showcase of Qatari culture. Her work has become an essential element of what Qatar Airways represents.”
Further elevating the announcement, Dana Al Fardan revealed the release of an EP called ‘Trilogy of the Ascent,’ which will be available across all major streaming platforms beginning September 10, 2023. “The trilogy aims to encapsulate the evolving human experience over recent years, mirroring the unceasing ambition of Qatar Airways to soar to greater heights,” she added.
Dana Al Fardan’s reputation as a composer extends beyond her work with Qatar Airways. Her compositions have graced London’s iconic Theatre Royal Haymarket, and she has contributed to groundbreaking musicals like ‘Broken Wings’ and ‘Rumi: The Musical.’
Oryx One Inflight Entertainment provides more than 7,000 entertainment options, offering the latest films, TV shows, and a curated selection of over 2,000 musical compositions, including works by Dana Al Fardan.
