flynas is significantly expanding its presence in the UAE, adding eight new routes to its network as part of Saudi Arabia’s National Civil Aviation Strategy.
The strategic move will strengthen the kingdom’s connectivity by linking it with 250 international destinations by 2030. The expansion makes flynas the only Saudi airline to serve all four major airports in the UAE.
Starting September 1, flynas will operate flights from Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport to Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) and from Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport to Abu Dhabi’s Shaikh Zayed International Airport and Sharjah International Airport. Additionally, flights connecting Madinah’s Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport to Sharjah will also commence on the same day.
On September 2, flynas will further extend its network by launching flights from Madinah to Shaikh Zayed International Airport. These additions will increase flynas’s daily flight frequency to more than 20, enhancing the convenience and accessibility for travelers between Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
This expansion aligns with flynas’s broader growth strategy, which was solidified by an agreement with Airbus in July. The deal involves the acquisition of 160 new aircraft, including 30 wide-body planes, which will double the airline’s total orders to 280 aircraft. The expansion is expected to increase flynas’s fleet to over 160 aircraft by 2030, up from its current 61 aircraft.
The addition of Airbus A330-900 aircraft to the fleet will bolster flynas’s capabilities, enabling nonstop flights over long distances with a two-class configuration that can accommodate up to 400 passengers. This investment highlights flynas’s commitment to providing enhanced connectivity and supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, a strategic framework aimed at diversifying the kingdom’s economy and reducing its dependence on oil.
Since its inception in 2007, flynas has served over 80 million passengers with more than 1,500 weekly flights to over 70 destinations. With its ambitious expansion plan, the airline aims to increase its network to 165 destinations by the end of the decade, making significant contributions to Saudi Arabia’s growing influence in global aviation.
