Emirates and AEGEAN have announced the expansion of their codeshare agreement, now adding the Athens-Newark route. The expansion comes as the airlines celebrate a year-long successful partnership that has already benefited more than 16,800 passengers. The enhanced agreement will provide Emirates’ passengers an opportunity for a stopover in Athens while connecting to other popular Greek and European destinations via AEGEAN’s network.
A Seamless Experience Across Continents
The codeshare agreement was initiated in August 2022 and has since offered travelers a seamless booking experience from Emirates’ network to eight domestic points in Greece via Athens. This also enabled AEGEAN’s customers to enjoy convenient travel between Athens and Dubai. Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, stated, “We’re pleased to expand our successful partnership with AEGEAN to include our direct service between Athens and Newark. Our combined network will now reach 200 destinations globally.”
Elevating the Scope of the Alliance
Dimitris Gerogiannis, CEO of AEGEAN, commented, “The expanded codeshare alliance with Emirates brings Athens and New York closer for all AEGEAN passengers while offering a seamless travel experience to popular Greek and European destinations. This harmonious collaboration sets a remarkable precedent for our passengers and paves the way for another successful step benefiting both the airlines and the Greek tourism industry.”
Booking Options and Itineraries
Customers can book their travel itineraries through both emirates.com and aegeanair.com, as well as through online and offline travel agents. Emirates has 29 codeshare and 117 interline partners, making its global footprint even more prominent. On the other hand, AEGEAN offers flights to 17 domestic destinations and 53 additional points in regional Europe and the Middle East from its Athens hub.
Taking Global Collaboration to New Heights
The expanded codeshare agreement promises to make travel more convenient for both AEGEAN and Emirates passengers, offering an even broader selection of destinations. Both airlines reaffirm their commitment to providing world-class service and continue to make strides in strengthening their global networks.
